Non Gender Stereotype Advertisement Fanta

This print ad does not counter or promote a gender stereotype it is completely neutral. This print ad shows both women and men enjoying the perks of the ad being something that you can taste. By being gender neutral this ad has the biggest target audience because it does not exclude genders. 

By having a big target audience Fanta is able to reach out and earn a bigger profit by drawing more people in. Gender stereotypes can use humor to draw people in but it can also turn many away. This ad shows that everyone can enjoy Fanta.  

Gender Stereotype Advertisement Needing a Woman

This advertisement sheds light on the stereotype that women are needed in order to have a baby grow up to be successful. In this ad it shows a man who looks like he does not know what he is doing with the baby and is dressed like a woman showing that women are needed in raising a baby. 

I think that this stereotype of needing a woman for raising a baby is unfair because their a mom who leave after the baby is born and many successful people come from being raised by a single father. Within this ad it is also being shown that men depend on women for help with children. 

Gender Stereotype Advertisement Dr. Pepper

This ad is representing the stereotype that diet drinks are for women and the idea of a 10 calorie drink being one for a man because it does not say diet in the name of the product. This ad was put on Facebook and encouraged men to become a part of the Dr. Pepper 10 product fan club. 

I think that this ad is productive in reaching out to their target audience which is men. With this stereotype that diet drinks are just for women and the 10 calorie drinks are for men, this ad is strictly aimed at men and excludes women. 

 

 

Gender Stereotype Advertisement Men Never Listen

In this advertisement it is clear that it is referencing the stereotype that men are never listening to women when they are talking. This stereotype has been around for a long time and I feel that it is still out there. There have been countless times that I have been accused by my mom of not listening while she was asking me to do something or tuning her out when I am watching television.

This stereotype of men not listening unless it is important is an ironic way to get an audience’s attention about hearing aids. I think that this ad has potential to offend someone who is in need of a hearing aid but also uses a key component to getting someones attention which is humor. This can be funny to someone and will help draw people in to read further on what this ad is all about.

 

Gender Stereotypical AXE Advertisement

The Axe deodorant and body spray line both in their television and print advertisements have the gender stereotype that females will be attracted to you if you wear their product. On the back of the products pictures like the advertisement above are pictured and promises things that are unlikely to happen. Women who are looking for a man do not solely focus on the males smell and the sent that the guy is wearing does not make him physically more attractive than he really is.

The Axe brand wants men to think they are superior to other men if they wear or use any of the Axe products. The ad also promises that you will get surrounded by women if you are wearing the product. This stereotype that men need a body product to attract women is extremely clear in this ad.

Countering a Gender Stereotype Advertisement

In this advertisement it is countering the typical stereotype that a nurse is strictly a female job. In the past ten years the nursing field has began to see a major change by there being a decent amount of men in the nursing career and in school to become a nurse. The stereotype in the past is that women are the only people who are nurses and it is unmanly and unthinkable for a man to want to be a nurse.

This advertisement breaks the stereotype by showing men that are dressed in masculine clothing and that do not look like the typical man that would be a nurse. Not only does the picture reflect the stereotype but I feel that the text does as well. The text could be interpreted that it takes a masculine man to be able to handle the pressure and stereotype of being a male nurse. Male nurses could be subject to unfair jokes and harassment so in turn it would take someone with thick skin to overcome the adversity.
